I’ve been able to take seven weeks off work and am currently trying to thru-hike the Heysen Trail north to south. I’ve left my run a bit late in the season so if the fire season dates stop me or if I run out of time/legs I’ll finish it off next year.
I started on Monday and am enjoying a day off in Hawker. The five days of hiking so far have been absolutely incredible. All tanks, apart from the one right at Parachilna Gorge, have been third to half full (the one 650m in had water). The huts have all been in good condition.
I just wanted to thank the survey team (only got Peter’s name sorry) for the lift from the trail to Hawker, and the Friends of the Heysen Trail for the wealth of useful information.
Hoping to make it to Melrose next weekend but a few climbs in the way.
