CANCELLED: Eyre Depot – Warren Gorge – Buckaringa

Sat 26 to Sun 27 Sep 2020

Walk name/location
Eyre Depot – Warren Gorge – Buckaringa
Walk grade
End-to-End 11
Description

Two fantastic and remote walks to finish the years walking.

SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER

After a 1.5 klm walk-in to rejoin the trail walkers follow firetracks to climb back into the range before entering Mount Arden Creek as it winds it way northward. The gradual climb up the winding creek bed with its waterfalls and rocky sections can make for slow progress. A few kilomtres short of the Mt Arden South campsite walkers leave the trail for climb out to Warren Gorge.

SUNDAY 27th SEPTEMBER

Following the walk-in from Warren Gorge the trail leaves the creek after Mt Arden South campsite to climb to Mt Arden summit and its spectacular 360 degree views over the surrounding countryside. After a tricky descent from the summit the trail then follows the undulating ridgeline before dropping down to a pretty and at times arduous creekline through Buckaringa Gorge to the finish.

A “high-note” on which to complete the season and whet your appetite for our last year on the Trail.

It is worth considering staying an extra night in Quorn after 2 days of taxing walking.

The dinner on Saturday night will be at Emilys Bistro from 6.30pm
