Description

Come along for a walk through the eastern section of the Scott Creek Conservation Park, one of the hidden gems of the Adelaide Hills. The Park’s 706 hectares of sloped valleys, lush creek lines and rounded ridgetops are home to a wide variety of native plants, birds and animals. Although damaged by fire in 2021, the park’s regeneration is now well underway and well worth a visit!

Note: This 9km walk has lots of ups and downs. If you have a good walking fitness and are looking to challenge yourself, then this walk could be for you!

BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

COVID-19 measures – you will need to adhere to social distancing at this event:

I declare that if I experience any respiratory symptoms (even if mild) before the walk, I will immediately self-isolate, seek medical advice and cancel my registration for the event.
When attending the walk I will:
- observe social distancing practices
- maintain personal hygiene (apply hand sanitiser and protect others if I cough/sneeze)
- not share drink bottles, eating utensils, other personal items and equipment.

Muddy, slippery tracks and minor creek crossings if there has been recent rain.

Requirements

COVID-19 measures – you will need to observe social distancing at this event, ensuring no contact between participants.

This includes:

maintaining a 1.5 metre minimum distance between participants
maintaining a 4m² minimum area per person
bringing and using your own supply of hand sanitise

Experience

Some bushwalking experience preferred as this is a challenging, undulating walk. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing and carry sufficient water for the conditions forecast on the day. Walking poles will be handy if you regularly use them but not essential. Bring snacks for a morning tea break (we will need to stand, sit on the ground or lean on a fence post).

Walk grade: Trail Starter

The aim of these walks is to introduce people to bushwalking, for those who are not regular walkers and those who have not walked in a group previously or who want a shorter walk. TrailStarter walks are usually close to Adelaide, have a walk time of about 3 to 4 hours and will generally be not too physically demanding. Anyone undertaking these walks may have only a modest degree of physical fitness. These walks generally occur on Saturdays or Sundays.

Appropriate Clothing

All walks are subject to you wearing appropriate clothing. Prime considerations are warmth and weather protection. Your safety and the safety of the walking group can be jeopardised by you wearing inappropriate clothing. In an emergency situation it can take hours to evacuate a sick or injured walker. Leaders may not accept people for a walk who have not come appropriately dressed or prepared.

Hot Weather Policy

If the forecast temperature for Adelaide is equal or higher than 32C, walks are cancelled. For simplicity, this can be determined the night prior to the walk from the 7.00 pm ABC News Adelaide weather forecast, based upon the Bureau of Meteorology’s routine 4pm forecast.

Your Walk Leader will send an email to all walkers advising the walk is cancelled. We suggest you check your emails before leaving to join the walk. Even if the forecast temperature is later revised, the walk remains cancelled. In such a case walk fees will be refunded.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

If unforeseen circumstances arise and you are no longer able to participate in the walk, please cancel your registration as soon as possible using the Manage Walk Registrations facility on your Account page.

Alternatively you can notify the office by 2.15pm on the last business day before the walk. Walk leaders do not have access to messages left on the answering machine after this time. If your Walk Leader has provided their mobile phone number you may be able to contact them prior to the walk (subject to phone service availability).

Delivery Policy

Memberships, walk and event registrations and Golden Boots Cards are tickets. If you purchase a Golden Boots card details of your card purchase will be recorded. If the Golden Boots card has expired when you register for walk events, you will be prompted to purchase another card.
