The Fire Danger Seasons for three of the four Fire Ban Districts affecting the Heysen Trail are set to end on April 30 – meaning as of this date the entire trail will be open to hikers.
Early indications are that the Fire Danger Season will end as scheduled and not be extended beyond April 30. Refer to this press release from the CFS. However hikers should wait until confirmation is received from the CFS that the Fire Danger Season will end on April 30 before making definite plans.
The Fire Danger Season in the Flinders ended on April 15, effectively re-opening the trail north of Wirrabara Forest.
