SUMMARY:Mt Little Station/ Parachilna Gorge
DESCRIPTION:For our last week on the trail having commenced our journey on Sunday 21st May 2017 \,we will finally finish at Parachilna Gorge Trailhead on Saturday 19th August 2023.Not the usual 6yrs but 7 due to Covid throwing a spanner in the works. \nExpect another wonderful week of walking commencing where we left off in June at Mt Little Station. Heading along creek lines past Red Range campsite onto a long though relatively comfortable walk to the finish at Moralana Drive . From there through Black Gap to the climb up and over Bridle Gap and into Wilpena Pound. On the following days we will pass through Bunyeroo\,Trezona and Aroona  all of which are significant geological and historical sites. Many undulations will be encountered along the way before crossing the final stile at Parachilna Gorge where we will celebrate with some well deserved drinks and group photos. \nGROUP GET TOGETHER AT 4:30PM AT SHELTER NEAR SWIMMING POOL AT CAMPGROUND. SUMMARY:Broadview-Woolshed Flat-Quorn
DESCRIPTION:WEEKEND BASED IN QUORN \nSat -We start the day with a 2;5km or 4km {if wet} walk back in through private property to rejoin the trail back up on the ridgeline .The surrounding countryside is truly spectacular with views of Mt Brown enticing the walker onwards .With such scenery ones mind is distracted from the 600mtrs plus of elevation we climb to get to the top.A quick morning tea will be taken at Catninga shed to refuel before the final ascent.Once at the top we will break again for a proper morn tea giving walkers the time to enjoy what Mt Brown{964mtrs} has to offer.A long descent leads us down to Waukarie Creek and  eventually to Pichi Richi Pass where our cars are .Another tough day on the trail but well worth it .IF YOU ARE INJURED OR UNWELL PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS WALK . \nSun-A steady climb to the start of the day takes walkers to the top of the range and views over Pichi Richi Pass.After following the ridgeline for a few kms the trail descends into the Pass again .We then follow the Historic Pichi Richi Railway Line passing remnants of deserted sidings and settlements.DO NOT WALK ON THE TRACKS OR BRIDGES . \nIf you only want to walk on one day please ring the office to register. \nPlease sanitise hands and wear mask upon boarding the bus . \nGROUP DINNER-Sat night -7:15 Transcontinental Hotel \,Quorn . \nOrdered and paid  for on the night.Please RSVP when registering. \nTHEME- COMFY IN QUORN

SUMMARY:Ali Gorge Rd-Horrocks Memorial-Broadview
DESCRIPTION:  \nWeekend Based in Melrose **** PLEASE NOTE WALKS BEING DONE OUT OF ORDER*** \nSAT 30TH-Starting with a tough climb out of Horrocks Pass to the ridge .Walkers are immediately rewarded with Spectacular scenery in all directions .Spencer Gulf to the west and Willochra Plain to the east .The trail traverses exposed gibber littered hills making good sturdy footwear a must .Keep an eye out for Ripple rocks that line the edge of the trail early on .The trail undulates across the top of the hills all day before we leave the Heysen for  a 2;5km walk out through private property back to the cars .A tough but very enjoyable walk. \nSun 31st-Leaving Alligator Gorge Rd the trail leads walkers over Lavender Peak before descending to Stony Creek Campsite.Take time to admire the giant redgums we walk among after passing the camp . SUMMARY:Murraytown-Melrose-Ali Gorge Rd
DESCRIPTION:  \nWEEEKEND BASED IN MELROSE *****PLEASE NOTE WALKS BEING DONE OUT OF ORDER****** \nSAT 16TH-This is a long and difficult section of the Trail that starts with the ascent of Mt Remarkable {961mtrs} a climb of  600mtrs over 7.5kms  to reach the summit.Keep an eye out for the wreckage of a light plane that crashed on a scree slope some years ago This is the easy bit before a long steep descent drops us back into the spectacular creek lines and valley’s of the Mount Remarkable National Park .A day of hard Hill walking sees the walk end at Alligator Gorge Rd .MOST GROUPS HAVE TAKEN 9HRS TO DO THIS WALK IN THE PAST.IF YOU ARE UNWELL OR HAVE AN INJURY PLEASE WITHDRAW FROM THIS WALK AS GETTING SOMEONE OUT OF HERE WILL PROVE VERY DIFFICULT .We will start in two groups before walking as one from the top of the Mountain .The slower group will start at 6;30am followed by the faster group at 7am SHARP .If you’re not there at these times we will leave and will not be phoning people to see where they are  .HEAD TORCHES WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THESE EARLY STARTS .Bus being caught at end of day . \nPLEASE LEAVE 6;30am OR 7am IN NOTES TO LEADER UPON REGISTERING TO LET US KNOW WHICH GROUP YOU’RE STARTING WITH IN THE MORNING.IF YOU NORMALLY WALK IN THE BACK GROUP YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO  START AT 6;30AM. \n  \nSun 17th -A leisurely walk today along lightly undulating backroads after yesterday’s slog .This section provides pleasant vistas over surrounding farmland and finishes in the shadow of Mt Remarkable.Be sure to check out the old Quarry on the way into Melrose and the famous Redgum dividing one of the backstreets . \nPlease wear a mask and sanitise hands upon boarding the bus . \nIf you only want to walk one of these days please ring the office to register. \n  \nPLEASE FIND AND READ ALL DETAILS .

DESCRIPTION:After being blown off  the Mountain last year we return for another crack at the highest peak in the Mount Lofty Ranges{932mtrs}We pass Mt Bryan East Schoolhouse while walking a long section of road before our steep  ascent over  Mt Bryan. If weather permits there’s outstanding 360deg views from the top .Following undulations across the top we fall back into surrounding farmland before more road walking into Hallett .*****This is a demanding walk so if you haven’t been walking plenty of hills best not start here.****** \nPlease note-We will be car shuffling to the start of the walk and again at the  end of walk to retrieve cars .

DESCRIPTION:Sat -A long STEEP ascent following the Apricot Track( to get the heart pumping)   leads us back onto the Heysen trail following high ridgelines with spectacular views of surrounding countryside .We then drop down on a single file track through dense scrub to a small creek line before climbing out into more open country.The walk concludes passing through private farming land with some great scenery along the way \,and a few more undulations. \nIF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY DONE SOME LENGTHY WALKS THIS YEAR\,PLEASE DON’T MAKE THIS YOUR FIRST ONE!!! \nSun -A more sedate walk today following back roads and road reserves through undulating farmland. SUMMARY:Bowman Park/Mt Zion/Wirrabara Forest
DESCRIPTION:Sat 21st-For most of this section the trail follows gravel roads and a rollercoaster firetrack through natural bushland towards the TV tower where walkers are rewarded with spectacular views of the gulf and beyond.The tower never seems to get any closer (it’s just over the next Hill) i think ? \nSunday -22nd \nFollowing the closure of the trail along the Crystal Brook\, north of Bowman Park\, this section now commences with a road walk continuing along Bowman Park Road past Bowman Park\, turning north east along Huddleston Road. The Trail then turns north up Head Road\, continuing until Pipeline Road\, which it then follows until reaching Head Road and following that to the Wilkins Highway and Hughes Gap. After Hughes Gap the Trail meets the southern most hills of the Flinders Ranges and the Trail gradually climbs to the top of the range to reveal views over Port Pirie and Spencer Gulf. \n  \n**Please sanitise hands and wear a mask before  boarding the bus*** \nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. DESCRIPTION:Weekend based in Burra \nSAT -21st-Most of this section is spent walking South\,initially along the crest of Brown Hill Range following the remnants of an old 1840’s stone wall{The longest in SA}. This is quite an undulating walk with little shelter from the elements\, however the views make up for any discomfort. The last 5-6kms follow  rural roads back to the cars . \nSun-22nd-This is a very flat but unique walk that follows the freshwater intake channel for Bundaleer Reservoir\, only leaving it for a few Km’s as walkers pass through Spalding.
