DESCRIPTION:Welcome to End to End Thirteens final week on the Heysen Trail\, completing our traverse at Parachilna Gorge as follows:\n\nSaturday: Travel to Rawnsley Park Station\nSunday: Leigh Creek Road (Old Wonoka) to Mt Little Station\nMonday: Moralana Scenic Drive to Wilpena Pound\nTuesday: Wilpena Pound to Bunyeroo\nWednesday: Rest day\nThursday: Bunyeroo to Trezona\nFriday: Trezona to Aroona\nSaturday: Aroona to Parachilna Gorge\nSunday: Travel home\n\nIt is important to note that section 56 Mt Little Station to Moralana Scenic Drive was walked in our June week away\n\nWe will be based at Rawnsley Park Station\n\nThe theme for the week is “Superstition”\n\nIf there are difficulties driving the bus to any drop off/pick up locations\, the program will be altered at the leaders’/bus driver’s discretion\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

If you wish to only walk on one day\, please contact the office once registrations open.\n\nSaturday: Broadview to Woolshed Flat – This section of the trail climbs through grazing land and natural scrub to Mount Brown\, where walkers are provided with spectacular views of the northern Spencer Gulf from the viewing tower. A pretty single file descent leads down to Waukarie Creek and a classic Flinders Ranges creek walk\n\nSunday: Woolshed Flat to Quorn – A steady climb to start the day takes walkers to the top of the range and views over Pichi Richi Pass. After descending into the pass again\, the Trail follows the historic Pichi Richi railway line\, passing the remnants of deserted sidings and settlements\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Walkers are rewarded with views over the Willochra Plain and Spencer Gulf.\n\nSunday: Aligator Gorge Rd to Horrocks Pass – The trail initially leads over Lavender Peak to picturesque Stony Creek campsite. From there\, tracks\, back roads and a walk next to a busy highway take walkers to the memorial to explorer John Horrocks\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Mt Zion to Wirrabara Forest to White Park Rd to Murraytown
DESCRIPTION:This is a multi day walk. If you wish to register for only one or two days\, please contact the office once registrations open.\n\nSaturday: Mt Zion to Wirrabara Forest – For most of this section the trail follows gravel roads and a rollercoaster firetrack through natural bushland towards the TV tower at The Bluff where walkers are rewarded with spectacular views of the gulf and beyond.\n\nSunday: Wirrabara Forest to White Park Rd – This provides a very diverse range of scenery. Walkers follow the ridgeline along fire access tracks through the dense natural scrub of the Telowie Gorge Conservation Park and enjoy views over Port Germein and across the gulf to Whyalla and Port Bonython. After turning off and descending steeply from the ridgeline the Trail follows Sheepyard Track ascending to Rocky Ridge then turning north through old harvested pine forest allowing expansive views to the Gulf\, following a steep climb to Sugargum Lookout. The trail continues following the Wirrabara Greenway through a private property.\n\nMonday: White Park Rd to Murraytown – The day is spent walking along back roads and road reserves through undulating farmland.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Raeville to Locks Ruin to Bowman Park to Mt Zion
DESCRIPTION:Note well: we are walking this weekend out of the normal order\n\nSaturday – Bowman Park to Mt Zion: Following the closure of the trail along the Crystal Brook\, north of Bowman Park\, this section now commences with a road walk continuing along Bowman Park Road past Bowman Park\, turning north east along Huddleston Road. The Trail then turns north up Head Road\, continuing until Pipeline Road\, which it then follows until reaching Head Road and following that to the Wilkins Highway and Hughes Gap. After Hughes Gap the Trail meets the southern most hills of the Flinders Ranges and the Trail gradually climbs to the top of the range to reveal views over Port Pirie and Spencer Gulf.\n\nSunday – Raeville to Locks Ruin: This walk follows dirt roads into the small town of Georgetown and beyond past Hiskeys Hut. The trail then follows undulating fencelines through Sams Hills.\n\nMonday – Locks Ruin to Bowman Park: An easy walk\, predominantly along roads and road reserves\, this section takes us through the town of Crystal Brook\, then follows the Crystal Brook itself to historic Bowman Park.\n\nIf you would like to register for only one or two of the walk days\, PLEASE call the office to register after registrations are open\n\nAccommodation recommended in Crystal Brook\, Laura or Gladstone\n\nThe theme for the weekend is ‘Golden’

SUMMARY:EE George Quarry to Spalding Rd to Chlorinator
DESCRIPTION:Saturday – EE George Quarry to Spalding Rd: Most of this section is spent walking south\, initially along the crest of Brown Hill Range\, following the remnants of an old 1840s stone wall (the longest in SA). It is quite an undulating walk\, with little shelter from the elements\, however the views make up for any discomfort. The last 5-6 km follow rural back roads to the main Spalding to Burra road.\n\nSunday – Spalding Rd to Chlorinator: This is a very flat\, but unique walk that follows the Freshwater intake channel for Bundaleer Reservoir\, only leaving it for a few km to go through Spalding. DESCRIPTION:Note well: we are walking this weekend out of the normal order\n\nSaturday – Worlds End to Burra: Although primarily a long\, flat\, treeless walk\, along dirt roads and road reserves\, this section provides walkers with a perspective on the diversity of landscapes of the Trail. The final few kilometres provide pleasant views over the historic Burra township.\n\nSunday – Burra to Wandallah: This section of the Trail goes through historic Burra\, passing the old Redruth Gaol and other reminders of a bygone era. The trail then takes walkers over the exposed hills of the North Mount Lofty Ranges. Office please note\, no bus fee for Sunday walk\, we will be using a car shuffle\n\nMonday – Burra Rd to Worlds End: The trail crosses undulating farmland before entering the scrubland of the Hallelujah Hills. DESCRIPTION:One of the most spectacular sections of the Trail\, walkers follow sandy tracks through the coastal scrub of Newland Head Conservation Park\, and dramatic clifftops towards Victor Harbor. Here whales have been sighted\, as well as seals\, dolphins and the endangered white bellied sea eagle. At Kings Beach the Trail leaves the coast following roads and an uncleared road reserve to begin the long journey north.
