SUMMARY:EE19 Myponga-Mt Compass-Kyeema
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office (once registration has opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.\n\nSaturday 16th May: Myponga to Mt Compass (23km)\n\nAfter a short road walk you’ll enter the small\, picturesque Yulte Conservation Park. You’ll emerge from the bushland to cross open farmland\, continuing along Lawless Road (and the Myponga Pistol Club firing range) before gradually climbing to Mount Cone which offers distant views of Victor Harbor to the south. Then after crossing more farmland\, you’ll have a downhill road walk to the old dairy factory.\n\nSunday 17th May: Mt Compass to Kyeema (19.5km)\n\nThe pretty dairy pastures of Mount Compass and Nangkita provide the backdrop for the first section of this walk. Back roads then lead you through Finniss Conservation Park and into the Mount Magnificent Conservation Park. You’ll be rewarded with spectacular views from Mount Magnificent over the southern Fleurieu Peninsula. A combination of native bushland then back-road walking completes your day.\n\nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.
