SUMMARY:Inman Valley to Cobbler Hill
DESCRIPTION:** Please Note: This registration covers the first 5 days of walking from Inman Valley to Cobbler Hill. There is a separate registration for E2E-1’s last walk: Cobbler Hill to Cape Jervis and celebration dinner. **\n\nThis week is brought to you by the letter ‘C’.\n\nSun.18th: Some initial road walking gets us to Second Valley Forest coming out at Robinson Hill. Then we follow quiet country roads in Keen Road and Tugwell Road before some cross country and track walking to finish at Waitpinga Road.\n\nMon.19th: A mixture of scrub and road walking gets us to the coast at Kings Beach. We follow along the dramatic clifftops through Newland Head Conservation Park – probably the most picturesque and photographed section of the whole trail. The walk concludes at Waitpinga Beach.\n\nTue.20th: The first of our beach walks take us along Waitpinga Beach\, then on to Parsons Beach. More coastal walking before we enter Balquhidder and head inland before finishing with some road walking.\n\nWed.21st: Rest Day. Optional activity helping Friends of Newland Head C.P. in the morning. Other activities To Be Advised.\n\nThu.22nd: We head across paddocks towards the coast where we will tackle the steepest descent on the Trail down to Tunkalilla Beach (it is no where near the 4km monster it used to be). At Boat Harbor Beach we enter the Deep Creek Conservation Park and its characteristic dense bushland before opening out on the ridge near Tapanappa Campground for far-reaching views.\n\nFri.23rd: A spectacular walk through Deep Creek Conservation Park includes the waterfall with dense bushland and stunning coastal views. Lots of ups and downs today all the way to Cobbler Hill.\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk 1\, 2\, 3 or 4 days\, please contact the FOHT office to register for those days. The online registering system will only allow you to register for all 5 walking days.

Generally following ridges\, we get to the small but diverse Yulte Conservation Park before making our way down towards Myponga.\n\nSun.27th: We begin with pretty farmland and quiet country roads then climb towards Myponga Conservation Park for views and some testing undulations. More spectacular rural views as we approach Sugarloaf Hill before a steep descent down to gum-lined road walking into Inman Valley.\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office to register for that day. SUMMARY:Cleland Conservation Park to Mylor to Dashwood Gully Road
DESCRIPTION:The theme for the weekend is XMAS IN JULY.\n\nSat.25th: A short climb to start the day sees us summitting Mt Lofty. Then its downhill through the Botanic Gardens and on through Mt George Conservation Park. This is the most populated section of the Heysen Trail skirting Crafers\, Stirling and Bridgewater\, although you wouldnt know it as the carefully planned trail takes us through large tracts of bushland and reserves as we make our way to Mylor.\n\nSun.26th: From Mylor we have a steady climb towards Echunga and into the Jupiter Creek Goldfields (bring a torch for an underground trundle). Next is our first taste of Kuitpo forest involving some undulations and perhaps some boggy stretches. The final challenge is to cross Dashwood Gully Road safely!\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FOHT office to register for that day. The online registering system will only allow you to register for both walking days.

SUMMARY:Cudlee Creek to Montacute to Cleland Conservation Park
DESCRIPTION:The theme for the weekend is “SILVER”\n\nSat.27th – We are definitely in the Adelaide HILLS this weekend. Leaving Cudlee Creek\, we have a steady climb to Thomas Hill and on through lovely bushland to Montacute Conservation Park shadowed by Mt. Misery and overlooking Kangaroo Creek reservoir. Then its the biggy – a serious climb up to Montacute Heights before some road walking to finish the day.\n\nSun.28th – ** Note** – An early start today. A long day which is both testing and rewarding with a variety of terrain\, vegetation and views. This section has many ups and downs passing through the dense bushland of Morialta Conservation Park\, Horsnell Gully and Cleland and along roadsides\, rewarding walkers with spectacular views over Adelaide and the Hills.\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FoHT office Ph.(08) 8212 6299 to register for that day. SUMMARY:Mount Crawford to Mewett Road to Cudlee Creek
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this weekend is “GOLD”.\n\nSat.23rd: A long walk today filled with variety and many ups and downs. From the flat and wide to the narrow and steep we walk through the orderly monoculture of the pine forests of Mt. Crawford to the random abundance of the native bushland in Warren Conservation Park. Then we skirt the north-eastern edge of the area burnt during the Sampson Flat fires of January.\n\nSun.24th: A less demanding day\, but still with lots of ups and downs and more road walking. With clear weather we will get far-reaching views from the ridges across expansive valleys to the north and south giving an appreciation of the extent of the Sampson Flat bushfire and a stark contrast between burnt and unburnt country.\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FoHT office Ph.(08) 8212 6299 to register for that day. The online registering system will only allow you to register for both walking days.

DESCRIPTION:Theme for the Weekend: We will have a German theme this weekend as we walk in areas influenced by the first German Settlers\, we pass by Bethany which was the first German settlement in the Barossa\, and we also walk through the Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park. \n\nSat.25th: After meandering the streets of Tanunda we have a long steady climb up to the lovely Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park and some expansive views over the Barossa Valley. We enter Mount Crawford forest where logging operations will dictate which route we take to end up at Brownes Road.\n\nSun.24th: Our last walk of the year begins with undulating back roads and tracks through farming areas. Then its once again getting amongst the pines of Mount Crawford forest where the terrain gets steeper\, finishing with some road walking back to the cars.

SUMMARY:Hamilton to Kapunda to Tanunda. Based in Kapunda
DESCRIPTION:Theme for the weekend: We will have a Scottish theme this weekend\, as we will be walking through Greenock\, which some call the Little Scotland of the Barossa.\n\nA couple of long walks this weekend.\n\nSat.27 Sep: Lots of undulating farmland walking today\, some through tall\, ripening crops but intermingled with more backroads and some bitumen.\n\nSun.28 Sep: Starting in Kapunda\, we travel the Mary McKillop Walk and other backroads before crossing more cropping and grazing land on the way to Greenock. A quite noticeable change in landuse to vineyards occurs as we enter the Barossa Valley. Pleasant vistas and changing seasonal colours make this a pretty walk.\n\nAnother value-added experience today: We will meet E2E7 on the trail today for a joint celebration (over lunch?).

SUMMARY:Gerkie Gap - Peters Hill - Hamilton. Based in Riverton
DESCRIPTION:Theme for the weekend is Marrabel\, (take this however you like- its’ history\, what happens there\, your choice\, surprise us\,)\n\nEasy walking this weekend!\n\nSat.23 Aug: We farewell the Tothill Range and head for Peters Hill … but don’t quite reach it today. Sorry\, a lot of road walking today but we do get to see the life-size statue of the famous buck-jumping mare Curio in Marrabel.\n\nSun.24 Aug: Heading up towards Peters Hill we will take a short detour to Marshall’s Hut\, one of the largest on the trail\, before reaching the hill. Then we continue south along the wooded foothills to Cornvale Rd. where we pass by the neat-as-a-pin property of the same name.

SUMMARY:Old Burra Road - Webb Gap - Gerkie Gap. Based in Riverton
DESCRIPTION:Theme: Christmas in July with a Secret Santa on Saturday night (max. value $10).\n\nSat.26th: Today we start the zig-zag down along the Tothill Range which feature great views\, woodlands\, rocky summits and farm tracks. We begin with a steep climb for great far-reaching views\, then descend to Huppatz Hut. Next we hug the western foothills between the range and Apoinga Lagoon. Niblet Gap offers a crossing to the eastern side before reaching Webb Gap.\n\nSun.27th: We continue the zig-zag down along the Tothill Range passing through the largest remaining section of remnant scrub in the area. The views are still with us as are the wind turbines that are now a constant feature of the mid-north horizon. We finish the day near the bottom of the Tothill Range at Gerkie Gap.

SUMMARY:Hallett to Old Burra Rd\, based in Burra
DESCRIPTION:Theme: “Le Tour de Burra”\n\nAccess to Day 2 and 3 is difficult and wet-weather affected – be prepared for late-notice program changes.\n\nSat 28th June: On our first day we have a period of flat walking\, followed by a hill\, and then more flat walking. Oh\, did I forget to mention that the hill is the towering Mt Bryan!?! At least we will be ascending from the less steep side. Today we reach the Halfway point of the Trail!!!\n\nSun 29th June: A remote but delightful section is covered today with a climb up to Caroona Creek Conservation Park where we descend through the picturesque Tourilie Gorge. We then skirt the saltbush plains to reach the easternmost point of the Heysen Trail before continuing on to cross the spectacular Newikie Creek.\n\nMon 30th June: An interesting walk past Black Jack shelter and into mallee before breaking out onto the barren Mongalata hills – a roller coaster ride to Wandallah.\n\nTues 1st July: Our Rest Day. For those with energy left\, the Heysen Trail Greening Committee have a tree-planting day on the roadsides north of Burra Gorge.\n\nWed 2nd July: We tackle the humps out from Wandallah then easing down to Burra. See if you can find any trees on this part of the trail.\n\nThurs 3rd July: At last a day without mountains. Just in case you forgot what road-walking was like we finish this section with an 8km gun barrel walk down to Burra Gorge. At least our new plantings and a new campsite will be a welcome distraction.\n\nFri 4th July: A lovely little unassuming section to finish our walking week. A lot of variety yet nothing spectacular and reasonably short so that we will reach our cars hopefully to be home before dark.

SUMMARY:Marble Hill Road to EE George Road to Hallett. Based in Clare/ Burra
DESCRIPTION:The theme for the weekend is “Stone”\n\nSat.24th: Today we do something different – we head North! After the now customary warmup of road walking\, we climb up to the Brown Hill Range and a long walk along the stone wall which formed the western boundary of the historic Bungaree Station. Finally\, its a quick trundle down to the cars we had left at the quarry.\n\nSun.25th: An easy day of mostly rural backroads walking with just a bit of cross country. Perhaps this time the winds that typically blow in this section are at our backs.

SUMMARY:Curnow's Hut to Chlorinator to Marble Hill Road. Based in Spalding
DESCRIPTION:The theme for the weekend is “Never Never” \n\nSat.3rd: We begin where we left off last year with some road walking to the Yandowie homestead and then through paddocks to the valley of the Never Never Creek. Here we experience one of the unique sights on the Heysen Trail with yackas to the left of us and yackas to the right of us. Into the valley charge the brave 20-odd of us…. until we reach the new Bundaleer Tank Camp Site. Depending on when the season breaks\, the crossing of Bundaleer Creek might be tricky but following the Bundaleer channel from there on is a breeze with a grand approach to the aqueduct before arriving at the Chlorinator Station.\n\nSun.4th: Note that today we transition from the Northern Guide to the Southern Guide! Once again we start with road walking\, this time a grind up the bitumen before we reach the Bundaleer Channel. Then its flat\, flat\, flat walking alongside the channel except for a deviation through Spalding. If you are lucky and the weather is warm-ish you may see some of our reptilean friends which were very prevalent but timid and fast when E2E4 walked through here in October 2012.

SUMMARY:Locks Ruin to E Smith Rd to Curnow's Hut

SUMMARY:Horrocks Pass to Alligator Gorge to Melrose
DESCRIPTION:This is the first of the ‘normal’ type of End-to-End weekend walk for E2E-1 where we will use a bus to only ferry us from the finish point to the start point each morning. But this weekend wont be ‘normal’!\n\nThe theme for the weekend is “RITUALS”.\n\nSaturday\, our first day\, we will skip forward a section to walk from Alligator Gorge Road to Melrose. Although very picturesque\, this is a long\, tough walk with lots of ups and downs and a big mix of terrain finishing with a long steady descent from Mt.Remarkable. We will start early (7:30am) and finish late. Being the day after the Winter Solstice we will have the minimum of daylight\, so please bring a torch.\n\nSunday\, we walk from Horrocks Pass to Alligator Gorge Road\, a relatively short and easy walk\, but includes some busy bitumen roads and ends just after the ritual ‘Lavender Peak’ cairn building. NOTE: There will be an afternoon bus pick up to ferry us back from Alligator Gorge Road to the cars we left at the Horrocks Memorial at the beginning of the day’s walk.
