SUMMARY:Wild South Coast Way on the Heysen Trail
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in 6 walks along the new Wild South Coast Way on the Heysen Trail (WCSW) between Cape Jervis and Victor Harbor.  Absorb 75km of rugged coastlines\, 7 beaches\, dense native vegetation and expansive views in a small group.\n\nA Sunday afternoon introduction will include an overview of Ngarrindjeri connection to Deep Creek and a short 4km walk-to-a-view followed by sundowner drinks & nibbles. Walk Leaders with experience of the terrain will guide longer day walks Monday to Friday following the WSCW along this dynamic coastal stretch of Heysen Trail.\n\nA solid level of fitness is necessary for walking over consecutive days on a Class 4/5 Trail:  these are challenging walks between 5-6 hours with some steep climbs and descents through gullies with rough\, narrow and uneven tracks\, a bit of rock scrambling\, creek crossings and along cliff edges.  Note: you shouldn’t rely on access to exit points as there are few available.\n\nAs it is a linear trail\, walkers will drive themselves to the end location for the walk\, from where a bus will take them to the start of the walk. SUMMARY:Mt Lofty To The Barossa
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity for walkers to experience another 6 memorable sections of the Heysen Trail in a “single hit” from where last year’s Fleurieu to Mt Lofty walk finished in the Cleland Conservation Park just below the summit of Mt Lofty to continue the journey north through more of the picturesque countryside of the Adelaide Hills into the southern reaches of the  Barossa Valley finishing a little north of Tanunda. The walks wend there way  through numerous delightful Conservation Parks and State Forest areas\, along undulating back roads\, and past vineyards and grazing lands with a few challenging hills thrown in for everyone’s pleasure.\n\nAnother full week of walking on the Trail designed to enable walkers especially those from beyond Adelaide\, whether from intrastate or interstate\, the opportunity to complete these beautiful sections in a single block rather than the normal schedule of an End to End group.\n\nThose walkers who undertook one or both the Fleurieu to Mt Lofty walk in 2021 or the South Coast walk in 2020 will be offered an Early Registration Link  to register for the weeks walking on Wednesday 20th July\, two weeks prior to the public opening of Registrations on Wednesday 3rd August.\n\nPlease note this an Extended Walk for people wanting to do the entire week of walking and not those wishing to do selected day walks.\n\nREGISTRATION REQUIRES PAYMENT  OF THE FULL EVENT FEE which covers all walk fees and bus costs. To register for these walks you must be a member of the Friends of the Heysen Trail.\n\nThe walk leaders are the same as for the 2 previous years weeks of walking.. All are currently leading End to End groups and have each completed the trail on one or more occasions.\n\nFor each walk\, walkers will need to drive themselves to the end location for the walk\, from where a bus will take them to the start of the walk. It should be noted the meeting location for each of the walks is generally around an hour’s drive or less from Adelaide. Those coming from interstate or intrastate locations may choose stay in Adelaide for the first 3 walks and then in the Barossa for the second 3 walks.\n\nExcept for the last walk\, all these walks are challenging\, especially the first 3 walks which include a number of steep climbs and tricky descents\, so please ensure you come well and truly physically prepared for a tough though rewarding week of walking on the Heysen Trail.\n\nGiven the continued and rising number of Covid cases we are asking all walkers TO COMPLETE A RA TEST in the 24 HOURS prior to the start of the walks on Monday 29th September.\n\nShould you have any questions about the walk please feel free to contact John Babister at: jpbabister@internode.on.net or on 0409616270

SUMMARY:South Coast Week
DESCRIPTION:An opportunity for walkers to undertake the first 6 breathtaking sections of the Heysen Trail in ” one hit”\, from the trailhead at Cape Jervis through to the delightful little hamlet of Inman Valley.\n\nA full week of walking designed to enable walkers especially those from beyond Adelaide\, whether from intrastate or interstate\, the opportunity to complete these fantastic sections along the coast in a single block rather than the normal schedule of an end to end group.\n\nOnce you have registered you can think about booking accommodation in Victor Harbor or elsewhere on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Refer to the Friends website for accommodation near to these sections of the Trail. Any accommodation booked is the individual walkers responsibility.\n\nPlease note this is an extended walk for people wanting to do the entire week of walks and not those only wishing to do selected day walks.\n\nAll the walk leaders are currently leading an end to end group and have each completed the trail at least twice.\n\nFor each walk\, walkers will need to drive themselves to the end location for the walk\, from where a bus will take them to the start of the days walk. The walk fee is to cover the cost of the bus each day. Golden Boots passes are not required for the event.\n\nSome of these walks are challenging so please ensure you come physically prepared for a memorable week on the Heysen Trail.\n\nShould you have any questions regarding the walk please feel free to contact John Babister via email(jpbabister@internode.on.net).
