SUMMARY:Heysen Homage - The Cedars
DESCRIPTION:The first leg of our journey takes us along the Heysen Trail Spur to The Cedars near Hahndorf.\n\nThe Cedars was the home of Sir Hans Heysen.\n\nWe take a guided tour of the family home and the studio that belonged to Heysen and that of his daughter Nora. (Your entry fee is being collected as a bus fare)\n\nSome may like to indulge in a Devonshire Tea following our tour. This must be booked as part of the registration process and paid for on the day.\n\nWe return to Bridgewater via Verdun\, then connect to the Pioneer Women’s Trail. There will be a lunch stop along the trail.\n\nAlthough classified as a Rambler please note the terrain will include road walking\, undulations and a steepish rocky decline.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Newland Head CP
DESCRIPTION:A slow walk to enjoy the rugged cliffs and bushland of Newland Head C.P.\n\nStarting the walk on a section of The Heysen Trail we reach the rugged headlands of the park\, where with weather permitting there will be spectacular views along the coast line. This is the time for whale watching\, will we be lucky to spot one? The rocky undulating tracks has us in and out of valleys\, surrounded by coastal vegetation to climb again to view the sea. This section of the walk requires the ability to be able to climb up and down steep and rocky hills.\n\nLeaving the coast behind we walk inland\, with wide open views of farming land on the right and bushland to the left. A sharp turn takes us into the bush\, with wattle trees and many other flowering wildflowers. In this area we will be looking for orchids which are often spotted here. Continuing through the park we return to the Heysen Trail and return to the cars.\n\nIf the weather is bad on the day\, the walk will not go to the coast\, it will stay inland and will only be around 7km.
