SUMMARY:Lavender Federation Trail Tungkillo to Springton
DESCRIPTION:A hike with great variety. Rocky outcrops and panoramic views of Mt Beevor to the south. We pass St Magnus Homestead formally Spring Vale and home to George Phillis\, Sir Walter Young and Kym Bonython.\n\nThe Seagas Pipeline from Port Campbell Victoria to Port Adelaide passes under the track.\n\nSheep grazing\, stands of eucalypt plantations gradually give way to grape vines the closer we get to Springton.\n\nThere are areas that get boggy with heavy rains and caution is required negotiating these places.\n\nThere is some open country which is hard going when strong winds are blowing. Shelter is sparse in the open areas.

SUMMARY:Lavender Federation Trail Bondleigh to Mount Beevor
DESCRIPTION:From Rams Road the trail passes abandoned ruins before following Gum Gully Creek. This is a steady climb. There are some awkward spots at times\, sometimes boggy\, with some thick vegetation and rocky ground. The prolific wildlife in this isolated area makes the walk worthwhile.\n\nThe final section of the slow ascent to Mt Beevor is particularly steep. There are comms towers at the summit with spectacular 360 degree views. From there is a 4 km downhill walk to intersection of Fendlers rd and Blackheath Road (marked as Mount Torrens Road on the LT Map).

SUMMARY:Parra Wirra National Park
DESCRIPTION:This is a bush-walk through very picturesque country linking the major features in the park. The scenery rivals some areas of the Flinders Ranges with its beauty\, and the proximity to Adelaide is a bonus. Birds of prey and colored birds in addition to native animals can be seen in the quieter northern parts of the park. \n\nThe terrain provides a good training ground for E2E walks etc.\,as the route will be undulating\, incorporating some significant climbs and gentle descents. Our return to the start point will be via a more recent established track. \n\nFirst time trail walkers are encouraged to participate\,a strategy for group co hesion will be in place. \n\nMost bush walkers particularly in the Flinders make a mental note of the quality and quantity of water in waterholes. But in lieu of this procedure an optional test on the ale temperature can be performed at the Blacksmiths Inn after the walk enabling further socializing with fellow participants if desired. \n\nPlease note the walk has been planned so that walkers will NOT be required to pay a park entry fee in addition to the FOHT fee.

SUMMARY:Hale / Warren
DESCRIPTION:To quote from the bible for serious walkers\, “Push the Bush”: “this walk takes you along delightful trails in two rugged areas of natural bush – the Warren and Hale Conservation Parks” which are separated by the South Para River. Considering the amount of rain we have received so far\, crossing the river will or could present us with a challenge.

SUMMARY:Cleland
DESCRIPTION:This walk incorporates the quieter outlying tracks of Cleland Conservation Park with some very special not well known trails. The relatively high altitude and some exposed tracks make this walk susceptible to inclement weather.

SUMMARY:Mt Misery
DESCRIPTION:The tracks leading up to Mt Misery are littered with the blanched remains of many walkers. Why don’t you join me and contribute to the pile? Located to the north east of Montacute CP\, Mt Misery offers memorable views when not fogged in by mist. Let us hope for reasonable good weather\, says he\, with all fingers crossed. A number of options to reach Mt Misery and the return journey (for those who make it) are available so bring enough water\, two and half litres\, and plenty of humour which should lighten the load and lessen the pain.
