SUMMARY:Mount Bold Reservoir & Rocky Creek with E2E14
DESCRIPTION:E2E14 are on the path to get fit ready for their final year on the Heysen Trail and all FoHT members are welcome to join us!\n\nThis will be an 8:30am sharp start for an 19km Trail Walker loop\, a great way to get over your election hangover and clear your mind with a lovely walk in nature!\n\nThis walk starts near Rocky Creek Hut and winds it way through Kuitpo Forest North followed by a few kms on orienteering trails and a short off-trail section before making our way to Mount Bold Reservoir and some steep descents very challenging climbs but the views are amazing. After the half way mark the tough stuff is over and the second half is reasonably flat and goes through pine forest and bushland and again makes use of orienteering trails and goes off-trail so gaiters are a good idea for this walk.\n\nThere will a short break for morning tea as well a longer break for lunch.\n\nWalk Difficulty – Trail Walkers are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.\n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:TW Balquhidder to Waitpinga
DESCRIPTION:Short road walk then after passing Balquhidder Station\, named by the wool brokering firm Harold and James McGregor after a village in Scotland which was the birthplace of famous outlaw Rob Roy McGregor\, we make our way down to the coast while taking in the views offered by the Southern Ocean.\n\nAs you come down to the beach be prepared to take your shoes off to cross the creek as it can be knee deep at times.\n\nThe walk takes us along both Parsons and Waitpinga Beaches and finishes at Waitpinga Beach carpark next to the Newland Head Conservation Park.\n\nThis is a spectacular walk and make sure you keep an eye out for dolphins and whales along this section of coast.\n\nThis walk is intended to serve as both an introduction to the Heysen Trail and a chance to catch up this section of the trail.  Rather than using a bus we will car-shuffle between the end and start of the walk.\n\nThere will be no support vehicle so please assess your level of fitness prior to joining this walk.\n\nIf the forecast maximum for Victor Harbor on Saturday evening is 28 or higher the event will be cancelled.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:TW Burnside Hills and Beyond.
DESCRIPTION:The final training walk for E2E16 before we launch into Year 4. But everyone is welcome. 16s are very friendly and seldom bite.\n\nStarting from Brock Reserve\, we head up through Mt Osmond Reserve. A brief visit into Glen Osmond CP before heading into Cleland. A bit of everything on this walk. Some ups and downs. Long flat stretches. Wide fire tracks and narrow bush trails. Some stoney sections. And if the weather gods bless us with some rain\, some slippery sections. And no Heysen walk would be complete without some roadside walking.\n\nAt 26k\, it roughly equates\, distance wise to day one of our first weekend away. But then we have to back up with another 22k the next day. A sobering thought.\n\n \n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:TW Onkaparinga Trails Less Travelled
DESCRIPTION:Onkaparinga 3 Water Crossings:  A scenic exploration of Onkaparinga National Park on some lesser known trails and criss-crossing the Onkaparinga River and Peters Creek: water levels will be checked prior – bring spare socks just in case.  Linking several tracks\, we’ll sample the Willunga Basin Trail in one part and finish with a strenuous climb out of the gorge to complete 14km. SUMMARY:TW Black Hill Loop ( morning)
DESCRIPTION:An endearing feature of Black Hill CP is the lack of long\, flat stretches of trail. Don’t believe me? Then come on out.\n\nWhile this is a reasonably short walk\, it packs a punch. We will often be on wide fire trails but where possible\, we will get out on to narrow\, bush trails that will be rocky and steep. Bring your poles.\n\nPlease present yourself well hydrated. That means increasing your water intake for 24 hours leading up to the walk. And please carry some Scroggin that is easily accessible without removing your pack. A steady intake of calories may be helpful.\n\nThis will not be a fast walk. There will be opportunities for faster walkers to go ahead and stretch their legs. But as always\, the pace of the group will be set by the slowest walker. And on the uphills\, that may well be me. Leg strength will be more important than leg speed.\n\nTo get back to the cars requires some walking along the Torrens Linear Path and some back street footpaths. But we finish the walk back on trails. Hopefully\, we will still be friends.\n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:Cape Jervis to Cobbler Hill
DESCRIPTION:Commencing at Cape Jervis\, the coastal scenery along this region of the Fleurieu Peninsula is spectacular\, and is a lovely walk along the first section of the Heysen Trail. The trail begins with a meander along sandy coastal tracks and exposed hillsides\, with views of Kangaroo Island and the Southern Ocean over your right shoulder. On occasions\, walkers are often rewarded with sightings of seals & dolphins. The trail progressively develops several undulations further along as you approach Blow Hole Beach within the Deep Creek Conservation Park. The walk ends with a much-anticipated hill climb for approx. 2km through native vegetation back to the vehicles.\n\nThis walk is intended to serve as both an introduction to the Heysen Trail and a chance to catch up this section of the trail.

SUMMARY:Cleland Loop
DESCRIPTION:So\, we are now at the end of the Winter walking season. Your trail hardened and as fit as you have been all year. Let’s finish this season with a bang.\n\nWe will meet at Measday’s Lookout\, and then make our way down to the valley floor. And then it is straight into the ascending till we are just short of the summit.\n\nAnd then we will go back down.\n\nAnd when we are neither up nor down\,\n\nWe will turn around\,\n\nAnd head for the summit again.\n\nBut not all the way.\n\nExpect 22k and enough vertical metres climbed to ensure that you sleep well that night. Pace will be moderate except on the steeper climbs (of which there are several) when you will walk at your own pace. We will wait for you.\n\nYou will finish the walk tired but exhilarated. So much so that you will want to rush home to book onto my next Cleland adventure on the following weekend.\n\nContact me on 0412228631 for further information\, or if you are running late on the day.\n\nCheers.\n\n \n\n \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris.
