SUMMARY:Beaumont/Lofty/Cleland
DESCRIPTION:This walk is ideal for walkers who need to test their endurance. It has similar distance and altitude characteristics to the Heysen Trail walk from Melrose to Alligator Gorge Road. It is about 26kms and includes hills and rough tracks to improve your stamina and walking techniques. It covers part of the Pioneer Womens Trail\, Mt. Lofty Botanic Gardens and Cleland National Park. The climbs are out of the way by lunchtime\, leaving a gentle stroll back to the cars after that.\n\nWalking poles and boots with good ankle support are recommended.\n\nWe will arrive at Cleland Wildlife Park in time for a late lunch and coffee. \n\nThe walk commences at 8am from Brock Reserve on Dashwood Road\, Beaumont and should finish by 16:00.\n\nContact me on the day on 0400320943 if necessary. \n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Mt Crawford/Warren CP
DESCRIPTION:Starting at Mt Crawford Forest Information Centre\, we skirt around the edges of Warren Reservoir before climbing up into Warren Conservation Park. From there we head in a southerly direction along the Heysen Trail. Joining up with the Tower Loop Trail\, we head back to Tower Hill for panoramic views over the area. We then head along forest tracks to Chalks campground\, then follow  the Heysen Trail boardwalk and forest tracks back to the cars.\n\nThis walk is approx. 20 kms and will take about 6 hours to complete. DESCRIPTION:The Three-parks Panorama. We meander through the walking trails of Cox Scrub Conservation Park to the Finniss River. Then its a long\, steady trudge up Cole Crossing Road and on to Mount Magnificent Conservation Park. If the weather is good and the legs willing\, we will have lunch on the summit. DESCRIPTION:We are so fortunate in Adelaide to have Cleland. So close to the city and it contains so many walking tracks that change throughout the seasons. This walk provides a good opportunity to discover some unfamiliar tracks to add to your personal training regimen. This walk covers about 22 kms and includes a variety of terrain that will provide a good workout and take in views over Adelaide and the Mount Lofty Ranges.\n\nThe walk commences at Brock Reserve on Dashwood Road\, Beaumont. We start at 8am. Bring wet weather gear\, water\, good boots and morning tea. We will stop at Cleland Wildlife Park for lunch at about 12.30. DESCRIPTION:The Willunga Basin Trail winds its way around and across the beautiful Willunga Basin for 130km – taking walkers through a diverse landscape of bushland\, forests\, vineyards\, almond groves\, parks and beaches.\n\nWalk the trail over 6 walks or walk any of the individual sections.\n\nWALK 1: Sellicks Beach to Moana Beach approx 22km. This involves a variety of cliff and beach walking as well as a section through the Aldinga Scrub.\n\nBring sufficient water for the day\, morning tea and lunch.\n\nPlease be aware of FOHT weather policies regarding cancellation of walks. DESCRIPTION:Onkaparinga 3 River Crossings:  A scenic exploration of Onkaparinga National Park on some lesser known trails and criss-crossing the river in 3 places – bring spare socks just in case.  We sample the Willunga Basin Trail in one part and finish with a strenuous climb out of the gorge to complete 14km. Anticipate 4-5 hours.  Please note this is a hard loop walk with no easy exit points – experience necessary.\n\nWet weather: in the event of rain prior the trail will potentially be slippery in places and the river crossings may have some water.  \n\nReminder: FOHT hot weather policy – walk will be automatically cancelled if BOM 4pm/ABC 7pm the day prior predicts 32 degrees or greater.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. DESCRIPTION:This walk will have an early 7am start\, because of the time of year\, and it will be very much weather dependent. \nPlease check the Heysen hot weather policy. (I will also message if we cancel)\n\n \n\nI’ve been in that Gorge during winter and it is always warm and humid in there\, so it’s an early start and temperature dependent.\n\nWe will walk approximately 7.5 klms upriver this includes 9 river crossings\, a side trip to the top of the Sturt dam\, then onto the 9th crossing.\n\nSo a total of 15klms and a possible 18 river crossings.\n\nWear long Gaiters & long trousers if you have them\, last time I was there the undergrowth was quite thick. DESCRIPTION:This walk will have an early start\, as the weather can be hot.\n\nSo it’s a 7.30am start.\n\nOn 20 November\, the temperature in Adelaide typically ranges from 14°C to 23°C and is rarely below 10°C or above 31°C.\n\nWe will walk approximately 7.5klms upriver this includes 9 river crossings\, a side trip to the top of the Sturt dam\, then onto the 9th crossing.\n\nSo a total of 15klms and a possible 18 river crossings.\n\nShould the river be too high to cross\, there are walking trails up on the high side of the Gorge we will use.\n\nWear Gaiters if you have them ( last time I was there the undergrowth was quite thick )\, Hiking poles will assist you\, & drinking water pus a few snacks are all you need .\n\nThis walk will not be cancelled due to temperatures\, as we should finish about lunchtime.\n\nWe’ll before the heat of the day.\n\nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. SUMMARY:Cape Jervis/ Cobbler Hill
DESCRIPTION:Commencing at Cape Jervis\, the coastal scenery along this region of the Fleurieu Peninsula is second to none\, and is a lovely walk along the first section of the Heysen Trail. The trail begins with a meander along sandy coastal tracks and exposed hillsides\, with views of Kangaroo Island and the dynamic Southern Ocean over your right shoulder. Walkers are often rewarded with sightings of seals & dolphins. The trail gradually develops into several undulations further along as you approach Blow Hole Beach within the Deep Creek Conservation Park. The walk ends after a much-anticipated hill climb for approx. 2km through native vegetation back to the vehicles.\n\nThis walk is a great introductory walk for those who are interested in undertaking the entire Heysen Trail\, those who want to catch up a section\, anyone wanting to relive this section of the Fleurieu Peninsula.\n\nA bus will transport us from the vehicles to the start of the walk.\n\nPlease note: the bus does NOT transport walkers from Adelaide to the walk. After registration\, walkers will be given directions to drive their vehicle to the meeting point which will be at the END point of the day’s walk. The cars remain at the meeting location\, and the bus transports the group from the cars to the walk start point.
