SUMMARY:Wandallah to Newikie Creek to Dare's Hill Summit Road
DESCRIPTION:SPECIAL NOTE:\n\nThe sections of the Heysen Trail to be walked on 3 & 4 August will be E E George Road Quarry to Spalding Road (Saturday) and Spalding Road to the Chlorinator (Sunday).\n\nIf you wish to walk these sections please register for the 3 & 4 August AS NORMAL. Ignore the advertised walk descriptions and the automatically generated email with meeting location details\, etc. You will receive an email from Russell O’Brien containing all required information for the replacement walks.\n\nThe advertised walks (Wandallah to Newikie Creek to Dare’s Hill Summit Road) have been postponed due to access road conditions being unsuitable.\n\nALL ENQUIRIES TO RUSSELL O’BRIEN.\n\nSATURDAY 3 AUGUST\n\nThis remote section of the Heysen Trail gives walkers their first introduction to the grazing lands beyond Goyders Line. After Wandallah Shelter walking is undulating until turning east toward Sugar Loaf Range. The track then turns to the north where Newikie Creek is reached via White Hill Road and Black Jack Shelter. This is an exposed and undulating walk with some very nice views.\n\nSUNDAY 4 AUGUST\n\nThis section passes through Caroona Conservation Park and Tourilie Gorge\, which is one of the lesser known gems of the Trail. Look out for the remnants of an old bullock track cut through the gorge.

SUMMARY:Walk Leaders Training
DESCRIPTION:There is a lot of satisfaction in becoming more involved in walking and the FOHT encourages walkers to become more involved in the activities of the organisation either as walk leaders or tail enders.\n\nThis day aims to give interested people the information needed to prepare and lead a walk successfully and goes through how to deal with problems that might arise. Part of the day is spent talking about how the FOHT operates and the assistance available to new leaders. The day goes from 9.30am to about 2.00 and lunch is provided.\n\nThere is no charge for this day but you need to register. For more information phone the office or email Arrienne at wynena@ihug.com.au

SUMMARY:Wandallah to Newikie Creek to Dares Hill Summit Road
DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY 6 JULY\n\nThis remote section of the Heysen Trail gives walkers their first introduction to the grazing lands beyond Goyders Line. After Wandallah Shelter walking is undulating until turning east toward Sugar Loaf Range. The track then turns to the north where Newikie Creek is reached via White Hill Road and Black Jack Shelter. This is an exposed and undulating walk with some very nice views.\n\nSUNDAY 7 JULY\n\nThis section passes through Caroona Conservation Park and Tourilie Gorge\, which is one of the lesser known gems of the Trail. Look out for the remnants of an old bullock track cut through the gorge.

SUMMARY:Horrocks Pass to Alligator Gorge to Melrose
DESCRIPTION:This is the first of the ‘normal’ type of End-to-End weekend walk for E2E-1 where we will use a bus to only ferry us from the finish point to the start point each morning. But this weekend wont be ‘normal’!\n\nThe theme for the weekend is “RITUALS”.\n\nSaturday\, our first day\, we will skip forward a section to walk from Alligator Gorge Road to Melrose. Although very picturesque\, this is a long\, tough walk with lots of ups and downs and a big mix of terrain finishing with a long steady descent from Mt.Remarkable. We will start early (7:30am) and finish late. Being the day after the Winter Solstice we will have the minimum of daylight\, so please bring a torch.\n\nSunday\, we walk from Horrocks Pass to Alligator Gorge Road\, a relatively short and easy walk\, but includes some busy bitumen roads and ends just after the ritual ‘Lavender Peak’ cairn building. NOTE: There will be an afternoon bus pick up to ferry us back from Alligator Gorge Road to the cars we left at the Horrocks Memorial at the beginning of the day’s walk.

SUMMARY:Mills Rd to Murraytown
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday we head north-west to walk the ridge-top track to The Bluff\, our first southern Flinders Peak. The track is a ‘roller-coaster’ through scrub land\, with some views. Very good views from The Bluff. Recent track closures due to fires means we must descend via the TV Track to Wirrabara Forest Road and on to the Old Nursery car park.\n\nOn Sunday we return to the ridge to follow the Go-Kart Track for 8km\, before descending to the east along the Sheepyard Track to the Northern Block of Wirrabara Forest. We skirt the pines to reach Block Nine Rd.\n\nOn Monday we head east towards the Main North Road\, along Yellow Cutting Road. Turning north\, we follow tracks and dirt roads to George St\, 1km northwest from Murraytown. Rubbish Dump Road is a feature.
