SUMMARY:Dutchman's Stern to Old Wonoka
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT NOTE\n\nThis is a multi-day walk. Registration requires payment of the END TO END EXTENDED WALK FEE. This fee assumes that registrants have purchased a Golden Boots card (see https://heysentrail.asn.au/walks/faq-frequently-asked-questions/#cost ). Accommodation and meal costs are not included. Those registering are invited to travel on the bus\, at no extra cost\, from Adelaide to Pt. Augusta\, then Hawker\, and return to Adelaide. If you choose to drive your own vehicle to the base locations (Pt Augusta and Hawker) the bus fee remains the same. Please note that there are no other fee options for this multi-day event. Accommodation and meal arrangements are the responsibility of each person registering. Group meals are planned for Tuesday 2 June (byo BBQ) and Sunday 7 June (hotel).\n\nIf you are unable to walk for the specified 6 walk days comprising this multi-day event and you still wish to register\, contact the Friends’ office during operating hours.\n\nBASE LOCATION: 1 – 4 JUNE (WALKS 1\, 2\, & 3)\n\nPort Augusta (Big 4 Holiday Park)\n\nTUESDAY 2 JUNE (WALK 1)\n\nThis is a deceptively tough walk with a bit of everything – undulating fire tracks with spectacular views\, a rocky gorge and a gibber strewn floodplain.\n\nWEDNESDAY 3 JUNE (WALK 2)\n\nAfter climbing back into the range\, walkers enter Mount Arden Creek which winds its way northwards. The gradual climb up the winding creek bed with its waterfalls and rocky sections can make progress very slow.\n\nTHURSDAY 4 JUNE (WALK 3)\n\nAfter Mt Arden South campsite the trail leaves the creek to climb Mt Arden summit for spectacular 360 degree views. The trail then follows the ridge line and a pretty creek line to exit at Buckaringa Gorge.\n\nFRIDAY 5 JUNE RELOCATE BASE TO HAWKER (NO WALKING)\n\nBASE LOCATION: 5 – 8 JUNE (WALKS 4\, 5\, & 6)\n\nHawker\n\nSATURDAY 6 JUNE (WALK 4)\n\nThis is a predominantly flat walk below rocky outcrops. The trail then leads across Willochra Plain to Partacoona Station.\n\nSUNDAY 7 JUNE (WALK 5)\n\nThis is a long but fairly fast walk\, initially along vehicle tracks\, then over open grazing land along the face of Yappala Range and past the historic Mt Elm school site to Jarvis Hill carpark.\n\nMONDAY 8 JUNE (WALK 6 and RETURN TO ADELAIDE)\n\nOne of the gems of the Trail\, this ridge walk provides spectacular views and many photo opportunities. It is a short walk\, but may still take up to 4 hours because of the terrain and photo stops.\n\nTHEME\n\nOn Thursday we climb Mt Arden\, named after Matthew Flinders’ great-grandmother. See The Life of Capt Matthew Flinders R.N. (Appendix C) at http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks/e00065.html\n\nThe theme is\, therefore\, the letter A.

SUMMARY:Mount Crawford to Mewett Road to Cudlee Creek
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this weekend is “GOLD”.\n\nSat.23rd: A long walk today filled with variety and many ups and downs. From the flat and wide to the narrow and steep we walk through the orderly monoculture of the pine forests of Mt. Crawford to the random abundance of the native bushland in Warren Conservation Park. Then we skirt the north-eastern edge of the area burnt during the Sampson Flat fires of January.\n\nSun.24th: A less demanding day\, but still with lots of ups and downs and more road walking. With clear weather we will get far-reaching views from the ridges across expansive valleys to the north and south giving an appreciation of the extent of the Sampson Flat bushfire and a stark contrast between burnt and unburnt country.\n\nNOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day\, please contact the FoHT office Ph.(08) 8212 6299 to register for that day. The online registering system will only allow you to register for both walking days.

SUMMARY:Parra Wirra National Park
DESCRIPTION:This is a bush-walk through very picturesque country linking the major features in the park. The scenery rivals some areas of the Flinders Ranges with its beauty\, and the proximity to Adelaide is a bonus. Birds of prey and colored birds in addition to native animals can be seen in the quieter northern parts of the park. \n\nThe terrain provides a good training ground for E2E walks etc.\,as the route will be undulating\, incorporating some significant climbs and gentle descents. Our return to the start point will be via a more recent established track. \n\nFirst time trail walkers are encouraged to participate\,a strategy for group co hesion will be in place. \n\nMost bush walkers particularly in the Flinders make a mental note of the quality and quantity of water in waterholes. But in lieu of this procedure an optional test on the ale temperature can be performed at the Blacksmiths Inn after the walk enabling further socializing with fellow participants if desired. \n\nPlease note the walk has been planned so that walkers will NOT be required to pay a park entry fee in addition to the FOHT fee.
