SUMMARY:TW Dump Rd - Waitpinga
DESCRIPTION:Note: We are walking this section in reverse because of a conflict with EE20 caused by the Deep Creek bushfire. \nOne of the most spectacular sections of the Trail. Walkers follow roads until we get to the coast at Kings Beach. We then follow clifftop trails and sandy tracks through the coastal scrub of Newland Head Conservation Park. Here whales have been sighted\, as well as seals\, dolphins and the endangered white bellied sea eagle. \n*** Anyone interested in this walk but worried about the cost of fuel\, please contact Kristyn Willson via email (heysenee19@gmail.com) and we’ll try and organize car pooling. *** \nWalk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines\, irregular surface with loose uneven\, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness. \nBIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear\, clothing\, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds\, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

SUMMARY:Walk The Yorke Moonta to Tiparra Springs and Tiparra Springs to Balgowan
DESCRIPTION:Walk The Yorke over two seasons starts 2026. All weekends are in the calendar for 2026 and will be open for registration on 21 March 26. This will enable walkers to arrange accommodation as two weekends are on long weekends. Future dates: 6-7 June; 11-12 July; 15-16 August; 12-13 Sept; 3-4 Oct 26 \n  \nDay 1 Walk The Yorke from Moonta Bay to Tiparra Springs is a 27.5 km walk along the coastline of the Yorke Peninsula. \nThe walk will take approximately 7 1/2 hours\, starting from Moonta. The walk will cross sand dunes within Tiparra Springs\, to exit the beach. The expansive view of the beach stretching from Nalyappa Point to The Gap is breathtaking. You will encounter rocky outcrops at Cape Elizabeth\, arriving at Coopers Beach for morning tea after passing through Port Hughes where the historic jetty is located. If you want to make the walk slightly shorter and you’re staying at Port Hughes\, we can meet you there at about 8:15 am. Monitoring the tides will be an aspect of the walk\, as there is some beach walking involved. \nCar shuffling will commence the evening before from Moonta Bay Jetty to Tiparra Springs\, to allow for an earlier start. We need up to five vehicles\, which will be left overnight on private land behind a locked gate. Please let the walk leader know if you are happy to be involved in the car shuffle. \nReturning to Moonta at approximately 4:30 pm with a group dinner at the Moonta Hotel. Please RSVP in the event page if you will be attending the dinner\, as we will need to book. \nDay 2 Walk the Yorke Tiparra Springs to Balgowan is approximately 19 km (5 hours) \nThe morning walk will cross sand dunes to the beach entrance. Weaving our way along the beach\, up to the cliff face tracks following the coastline to the small town of Balgowan. We may not follow the ‘official’ Walk the Yorke track\, as there are some beautiful trails along the cliff tops that we can explore\, arriving at Bamboos Campground and continuing to experience the spectacular red cliff faces. For those who look for camping away from the crowds\, there is a bush camp in Balgowan and a caravan park. \nCar shuffling will again be used to ferry us to Tiparra from Balgowan. We will meet in the morning at Balgowan. \nAccommodation: Cornwall Hotel Moonta has rooms available for approx $70\, with shared bathroom. There are cabins etc at Moonta Bay caravan park and Port Hughes caravan park.
