Lavender Federation Trail Tungkillo to Springton

Sun 9 Aug 2015

Details

Walk name/location
Lavender Federation Trail Tungkillo to Springton
Walk grade
Trail Walker
Description

A hike with great variety. Rocky outcrops and panoramic views of Mt Beevor to the south. We pass St Magnus Homestead formally Spring Vale and home to George Phillis, Sir Walter Young and Kym Bonython.

The Seagas Pipeline from Port Campbell Victoria to Port Adelaide passes under the track.

Sheep grazing, stands of eucalypt plantations gradually give way to grape vines the closer we get to Springton.

There are areas that get boggy with heavy rains and caution is required negotiating these places.

There is some open country which is hard going when strong winds are blowing. Shelter is sparse in the open areas.
