Experience spectacular scenery along this section of the trail as we pass through the Innes National Park. Native fauna including emus, kangaroos, goannas and many bird species abound.
Walkers are exempt from paying entry but all vehicles entering the park are required to purchase an entry permit. Details about how this can be done will be made available prior to the walk.
Today’s section will be inland, along the Thomson-Pfizner Plaster Trail to of Inneston. The trail then follows fire trails through the thick untouched bush lands, past one of the many lakes in the park to finish the day at the Pondalowie camp ground.
Innes National Park to Gym Beach (Saturday and Sunday’s walks) is one of the Hero walks of the WTY.
After walking the beach of Pondalowie Bay the route turns inland to follow the roads past Shell Beach and Browns Beach. At Browns Beach we leave the roads and join the Gym Beach Hiking Trail. This takes the trail through local scrub and vegetation, skirting local farm lands before joining the Gym Beach Road for the last few hundred metres to Gym Beach.
Suggested accommodation – Marion Bay.
To properly celebrate completion of the Trail with a dinner on Sunday evening I suggest you stay Sunday night.
NOTE – If you wish to walk on only one day, please contact the FOHT office (once bookings have opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.
