Although the most populous section of the trail, it still retains a rural feel as walkers pass through the parks and bushland of Bridgewater, Mt George Conservation Park, Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens and into Cleland Conservation Park.
But we are now entering the Lofty Rangers and regular climbs and descends can be expected. The walk length is approximately 21km's depending on final part of route taken. This is the 1st walk of 3 changeling walks along the lofty ranges.
"The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines, irregular surface with loose uneven, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness."
