Quorn – Dutchmans Stern – Eyre Depot
Walk grade

Description

Please note that these walks are being undertaken out of the normal order with the walk to Eyre Depot being done on Saturday.

This weekend will be based in Quorn.

SATURDAY 25th SEPTEMBER

A deceptively tough walk with a bit of everything-undulating firetracks with spectacular views, rocky gorge sections, crisscrossing of the creek, one testing little climb out of the gorge and a 5 klms traverse of the gibber strewn floodplain to Eyre Depot plus a final 1.5 km gibber littered walk out to the Bus.

For this walk the Bus will drop us off at the start of the walk and also pick us up at the end for the one and half drive back into Quorn.

SUNDAY 26th SEPTEMBER

Starting a couple kilometres west of Quorn this section climbs gradually through farmlands, along firetracks and native woodland towards Dutchman Stern. Taking a detour off the Heysen Trail to walk the 6 kilometre Dutchman Stern loop will provide a memorable highlight of the walk – the view is breathtaking.

For this walk we will drive to the start of the walk from where the bus will pick us up and take us to the end from where we will walk back to our cars.

Dinner on Saturday night will be
