CANCELLED: Quorn – Dutchmans Stern – Eyre Depot

Sat 22 to Sun 23 Aug 2020

Walk name/location
Quorn – Dutchmans Stern – Eyre Depot
Walk grade
End-to-End 11

Please note that these walks are being undertaken out of the normal order with the walk to Eyre Depot being done on Saturday.

A deceptively tough walk with a bit of everything-undulating firetracks with spectacular views, rocky gorge sections, crisscrossing of the creek, one testing little climb out of the gorge and a 5 klms traverse of the gibber strewn floodplain to Eyre Depot plus a final 1.5 klm gibber littered walk out to the Bus.

For this walk the Bus will drop us off at the start of the walk and also pick us up at the end for the one and half drive back into Quorn.

Starting a couple kilometres west of Quorn this section climbs gradually through farmlands, along firetracks and native woodland towards Dutchman Stern. Taking a detour off the Heysen Trail to walk the 6 kilomtre Dutchman Stern loop will provide a memorable highlight of the walk-the view is breathtaking.

For this walk we will drive to the start of the walk and the bus will pick us up at the end and return us to our cars.
