Waitpinga

Description

A slowish walk to enjoy the rugged cliffs and bush land of Newland Head Conservation Park.

Starting the walk on a section of the Heysen Trail we reach the rugged headlands of the park, where with weather permitting there is spectacular views along the coast line. The rocky undulating track has us in and out of valleys surrounded by coastal vegetation to climb again to view the sea. This section of the walk requires the ability to be able to climb up and down steep and rocky hills.

Leaving the coast behind we walk inland with wide open views of farming land on the right and bush land to the left. A sharp turn takes us into the bush with wattle trees and many other flowering wildflowers. In this area we will be looking for orchids which are often spotted here. Continuing through the park, once more there will be views of the sea before returning to our cars.

Please note if the weather is bad on the day the walk will not go to the coast and will be shortened to around 7km.
