Stayed here on 12th July ’19. Nice to be able to have a shower. Used the IGA Express shop for some supplies. Used pay phone for no mobile service. Restaurant was good value. Visitor staff were quite helpful.
30/8/15. Glorious walk from Yamnyanna to WP. My first “long” day. Had a redux ply box at the visitors centre, dropped off by the kind people if Angorinchina Redort. However, the store was well stocked, and had plenty of gas cylinders.
When i enquired about paying the fee to camp at Bridle Gap, the lady behind the desk basicaly said their computer booking system did not do that. So she said do not worry about it.
Good CVP. Check their website for fees.
Tried to arrange food drop here by post but no one at info centre knew whether they could or how to post to them and put me onto resort reception who didn’t know either. Receptionist asked a manager at resort who said they only receive letters/ small parcels through post but no one could say what size? I decided that was obviously too much hassle and posted 3 extra dinners to Hawker and would get other odds and ends at resort general store. Unfortunately store was very low or out of stock on a lot of items so not much choice. Also expect it to be expensive. Screw on gas cylinders are available here. Prob best to ring and check gas stock levels. Disappointed with this store for resupply.
I visited Wilpena on April 20th with other Rover Scouts while hiking from where the trail crosses the Hawker-Parachilna Road to the Parachilna Gorge trailhead (7 days/125ish km.)
The visitor information centre were kind enough to hold a food and supplies drop for us which we collected. We also each had a shower in the caravan park ($3 per person.)
Here’s us having a grand unpacking and repacking bonanza at the Wilpena Visitor Centre 😀
