Hiking from North Booborowie Road to Oban
Section 32 of the Heysen Trail takes you from North Booborowie Road to Oban.
On this walk we acknowledge the traditional lands of the Ngadjuri people.
The Whistling Trig water tank is leaking. Trail maintenance volunteers are working on replacing it, but due to the logistics of accessing the property, this will not be a quick fix.
The water level on the site, dated 28/09/2026 indicated 4% of capacity.
Walkers are advised to either carry additional water or take the opportunity to stay an extra night in Spalding with drop off & pick up from Fletch at the Spalding Hotel.
What you’ll experience hiking Section 32 of the Trail
It may seem odd that you’ll walk south for most of this section of the Trail, initially along the crest of Brown Hill Range following the remnants of South Australia’s longest stone wall which dates from the 1840s. This is quite an undulating walk with little shelter from the elements, however the views are wonderful.
