I stayed at the hostel in September 2010. Although the caretaker is a very weird guy, the place is clean and cheap. You even get a light breakfast in the morning and can cook in the kitchen.
There is a backpackers lodge set up in the former hospital. There are plenty of beds, common kitchen. Limited bathroom facilities, which would only really be a problem if there were lots of people staying there at once, which would seem unlikely unless there was a special occasion of some sort. Old place but clean and tidy.
