How far is from Eastern Rd turn off to the Caroona Conservation Park please
Google Maps tells me 38km
Passed through 6/6/22. Tanks at both the shelter and toilet are full.
The road to the campsite at Caroona Creek Conservation Camp site is clearly signposted Don’t have to open any gates to get there ?
If you use Dusthole Creek Rd past Mongolata you will have a number of gates to open.
Instead use Caroona Rd.
Thanks for the update

Main tank seemed 50-60% full. Good quality but wrigglies, if they bother you. Sieve using a hanky. Nice spot.
One of my favorite camps. Unsealed road access, walking access and 4WD unsealed road entrance.
Didn’t check tank at Heysen shelter but there is another small water tank at the old shed. Water appeared clear when I washed my hands when visiting 24/08/19 .
There are 2 long drop toilets in the park, one at this camp and another at the Heysen Shelter. Not sure why there is a sign which says there are fees, but there are no fees.
Tourilie Gorge is a really pretty walk, saw lots of roos and pretty birds. There is some good 4wd ing on unsealed roads in the area if coming in by car.
Douglas Winn – There is some information about a James Thomas and his wife Ada and two boys who lived in the area around 1890. I do not recall seeing anything re surname Loudens in the information available around the conservation park. Burra has an information center.
I am researching an ancestor who was born on Caroona Station in 1874. I wonder if there are any relics of the former station, homestead, wells, etc. or perhaps any historical references to the property, originally the Loudens.
Touralie gorge is gorgeous.
