NOTE: If you wish to walk on only one day, please contact the FOHT office (once registration has opened) to register for that day’s walk. The on-line registration system will only allow you to register for both days.
NOTE: These walks are being walked out of order, so that the harder walk is on Saturday.
Saturday 27th June: Cleland to Montacute Heights (26km)
This spectacular section of the Trail passes through the native bushland of Cleland National Park, Horsnell Gully and Morialta Conservation Parks and along pleasant roadsides, giving you the opportunity to take in spectacular views over Adelaide and the Hills. One of the hardest walks of our second year.
Sunday 28th June: Mylor to Cleland (21km)
Although this is the most populated section of the Trail it retains a rural feel as you pass through the parks and bushland of Mylor, Bridgewater, Mount George Conservation Park and Cleland National Park. Several steep ascents.
Walk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines, irregular surface with loose uneven, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 7 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.
BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.
