Description

A loop walk on the Heysen Trail taking in the Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens, the winding fire tracks of Cleland Conservation Park.

From our meeting point we walk north west on the main Heysen Trail route towards Mt Lofty.

We then take the relatively short, steep climb to the summit of Mt Lofty. This section of the walk is a bit challenging as we climb St. Michael Hill.

The reward is an morning tea at the Mount Lofty Summit cafe as we admire panoramic views over Piccadilly Valley and Adelaide City. BYO morning tea or pick up a coffee at the cafe.

We then take the Heysen Trail alternative route to the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden upper car park.  After meandering through the garden, enjoy its tranquillity, and return to the cars.
