This section starts with a pleasant walk along Brachina and Enorama creeks past the Golden Spike and other significant geological sites, before climbing to cross the ABC Range, where you’ll get spectacular views of the Heysen Range.

Aroona Hut
This final section of the Trail follows Aroona Valley to the watershed dividing it from the Parachilna Creek catchment to the north. You’ll then follow the valley between ABC and Heysen Ranges, past abandoned mines to the final stile at the Northern Trailhead. This walk is a pleasant amble, perfect for reflecting on the time and kilometres taken to get here.
Parachilna Gorge Trailhead
Curnows Hut
This diverse walk takes you through native scrub, the Bundaleer pine forest and farmland. Although you’ll scramble along the ridgetops and have some testing climbs, you’ll be well rewarded with spectacular panoramic views.
Raeville
This walk follows dirt roads into historic Georgetown which was originally planned as a miniature Adelaide with the unrealised expectation that the railway would pass through. You’ll continue to witness the history of the Mid North as you walk past Hiskeys Hut occupied in the 1800s and 1900s by two generations of butchers. The Trail then follows undulating fence lines through Sams Hills.
Locks Ruin
An easy walk, predominantly along roads and road reserves, this section takes you through the town of Crystal Brook, then follows the Crystal Brook itself to historic Bowman Park.
Bowman Park
There’s quite a bit of road walking for this section which begins on Bowman Park Road. At Hughes Gap you’ll come to the southern-most hills of the Flinders Ranges. After a gradual climb to the top of the range you’ll be rewarded with views of Port Pirie and Spencer Gulf.
Mt Zion
For most of this section you’ll follow gravel roads and a rollercoaster fire track through natural bushland towards the TV tower at The Bluff where you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Spencer Gulf and beyond.
The Bluff Lookout
It’s a day of ascents and descents, but you’ll be richly rewarded with diverse scenery and great views. Following the ridgeline on fire access tracks through the dense natural scrub of the Telowie Gorge Conservation Park you’ll enjoy views over Port Germein and across the gulf to Whyalla and Port Bonython. After turning off the ridgeline a steep descent leads you along Sheepyard Track then up to Rocky Ridge before you’ll turn north through old harvested pine forest. A steep climb to Sugargum Lookout provides more views of the Gulf.
The Trail continues along the Wirrabara Greenway through a private property to end on White Park just south of Yellow Cutting Roads.
Quorn
This section of the Trail passes through the outskirts of Quorn before entering the Dutchmans Stern Conservation Park. You’ll gradually climb towards the Dutchmans Stern, named because of its supposed resemblance to the stern of a Dutch vessel. It’s well worth taking a 6 km detour to walk to the Dutchmans Stern loop as the views are spectacular.
