Mylor
Although the most populous section of the trail, it still retains a rural feel as walkers pass through the parks and bushland of Bridgewater, Mt George Conservation Park, Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens and Cleland National Park.
Kapunda
A pleasant walk following backroads, tracks and fence lines through the undulating farmland of the Lower North.
Tanunda
This section takes walkers along back roads and road reserves past vineyards and wineries of the Barossa Valley, through the small town of Greenock and into the cropping and grazing land of the Lower North. It is a long but mainly flat walk with only a few undulations. Pleasant vistas and changing seasonal colours make this a pretty walk, with a finish at Kapunda Town Square in easy walking distance to bakeries or pubs.
Pewsey Vale
This is an easy section of trail that runs through the northern section of Mt Crawford forests and through the native bushland of Kaiser Stuhl Conservation Park with its unusual weathered rock features. Panoramic vistas over the Barossa Valley and Lower North are a highlight.
Mt Crawford
Initially climbing over Mount Crawford the trail follows forest edges and roadsides, then make its way up and over the pretty Wirra Wirra Peaks, before descending to creek lines again. Walkers follow roads and road reserves through open big gum grazing land.
The Nugget Rd
This section combines several sections of Mt Crawford pine forest with the natural bushland of Warren Conservation Park and Little Mt Crawford to provide a picturesque and diverse walk.
Cudlee Creek
The trail leads walkers through the rolling hills of the South Mt Lofty Ranges and sections of Mt Crawford Forest. The climb towards Mt Gould provides outstanding views.
Montacute Heights
After an initial road walk, the trail makes a very long and steep descent to Sixth Creek before climbing again through Montacute Conservation Park and Mt Crawford Forest Reserve.
A pleasant walk past the pretty private gardens along Holland Creek Road completes the section.
The section between the Montacute Conservation park and Snake Gully Road (Cudlee Creek) was devastated in the Dec. 2019 Cudlee Creek bushfire. Fortunately the section was reopened to walkers in April 2021.
Forestry SA advised that as of 17th May 2021, Grandpas Camp has been fully assessed and it is considered safe for use.
Cleland
This spectacular section of the trail passes through the native bushland of Cleland National Park, Horsnell Gully and Morialta Conservation Parks and along roadsides, providing frequent vistas over Adelaide and the Hills.
