History
Mount Brown is located in the Flinders Ranges about 20 kilometres east of the city of Port Augusta.
The mountain was named by the British navigator Matthew Flinders on 9 March 1802 after the Scottish botanist, Robert Brown, who was a member of HMS Investigator’s scientific team. Brown along with others from HMS Investigator including Ferdinand Bauer and William Westall climbed the mountain on 10 and 11 March 1802.
The Nukunu people are traditional custodians of the land.
The mountain has a height of 964 m (3,163 ft).
Since 1993, it has been located within the boundaries of the protected area known as the Mount Brown Conservation Park.

Notes
The camp sites of the Mount Brown Bushcamp are spread throughout the property. Camp site 6 is closest to the trail ... the others are not.
Vehicle access via Gunyah Road and then Broadview track.
Camp sites are not on the Trail but accessible via a short walk on Broadview Track. The Track meets the Trail at a gate (-32.52596, 138.03390), a little S and W of the waypoint given. Following the Track NE for about 500 m you reach campsite 6, the closest (-32.52166, 13803548). NOTE the sites do not have water supplied.
