Description

Saturday -Horrocks Pass to Broadview - 22km - Starting with a tough climb out of Horrocks Pass to the ridge, the Trail traverses exposed, gibber littered hills and farmland. Walkers are rewarded with views over the Willochra Plain and Spencer Gulf.

Sunday - Alligator Gorge Rd to Horrocks Pass - 15km - The trail initially leads over Lavender Peak to picturesque Stony Creek campsite. From there, tracks, back roads and a walk next to a busy highway take walkers to the memorial to explorer John Horrocks.

Walk Difficulty – The Heysen Trail walks are demanding and suitable for experienced walkers who have walked regularly in various terrain consisting of long-distance trails with some steep inclines/declines, irregular surface with loose uneven, slippery base. They have a walking time of about 5 to 8 hours and will require a good degree of physical fitness.

BIOSECURITY MEASURES – Please ensure you thoroughly clean your footwear, clothing, walking poles and other equipment before and after each walk to remove all seeds, dirt and other debris. Removed seeds should be bagged and disposed in a ‘to landfill’ garbage bin.

The Melrose Districts Historical Society will be putting on a 2 course dinner as a “fund raiser”

Main Meal is Lasagne & Salad – Dessert is Apple or Quandong Pie

BYO Drinks and Wine Glasses as required (Water & Water Glasses are supplied )

E2E14 Olympics – The sports challenge continues, Red was victorious last year. Come dressed in either Red, Blue, Yellow or Green.

Cost is $35 Per Head covers Hall Hire & Food – You will need to pay via bank transfer prior no later than 4pm Friday the 26th of July such that we can provide final numbers. Please specify in “Include a note” if you have a non-walking partner/friend that will be attending for the meal. Also specify in “Include a note” if you have any specific dietary requirements

NOTE: No refunds on meals possible after  4:00 pm Friday the 26th of July as numbers and $$$ will be committed for the Melrose Districts Historical Society Fund Raiser.

Bring food and snacks for morning tea and lunch.
