The Friends Council has decided to review our Constitution to revitalise how we manage the Friends and encourage newer members to become more involved. Information sessions for members will be held later this month to outline key proposals, answer questions and obtain your feedback.
Walkers leaving the metro area should be sure they do not take fruit fly with them. There is a fruit fly infestation in metropolitan Adelaide, and there are penalties for moving potentially infected fruit from an affected to an unaffected region. Please check which region ( green, orange or red) you live in, and act accordingly, after viewing the regulations on the SA govt fruit fly web site.
The Heysen Trail adjacent to the Buckaringa Sanctuary will be closed to walkers, Thursday evening 3rd June to Tuesday morning 8th June 2021.
The Friends are seeking a volunteer to help with our bookkeeping. Our small team of bookkeepers meet at the Friends Office on Friday mornings. If you can help, we'd be delighted to see you.
Access to the Heysen Trail in the Southern Flinders Ranges will be restricted from 6 am Saturday, 20th February 2021 until 2pm Friday, 26th February 2021..
With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions many people have tried bushwalking and camping for the first time. Some people have camped wherever they can find a spot. This type of behaviour has understandably upset some owners of land on or near the trail. We all need to remember to follow good bushwalking and camping etiquette.
Access to the Heysen Trail in the Southern Flinders Ranges will be restricted from 6 am Saturday, 21 November 2020 until 2pm Friday, 27 November 2020.
Some walking tracks in The Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, will be closed at night time until the end of October 2021 due to a feral cat control program. The Heysen Trail will remain open but walkers need to take care.
Daylight saving is here and with the approach of warmer weather, our evening walks are about to start. For a change we may even have some earlier in the day.
